  2. Prepare 3 tbsp chopped lemongrass

  4. Prepare 1 tbsp sambal chili

Pan-Fried Tofu with Spicy Lemongrass Sauce (Tofu Nuong Xa). To make it vegetarian, we sub Mushroom Soy Sauce for the Fish sauce. I also use Splenda instead of sugar, lemon juice instead of lemongrass (since it's hard to find around here), and Sriracha chili sauce for.   3. In small bowl, add lemongrass, salt, hot pepper, tumeric. Mix well. Wear gloves to gently put mixture in slits of tofu. Tumeric will stain hands.
  4. Can let it sit in fridge to marinate it better, or just fry it if in a hurry. Flip tofu on both sides when frying. Serve with rice and vegetables. (I like to leave it in bag to marinate and fry only what i plan to eat)

With the addition of lemongrass and hot chili pepper, the fried tofu becomes aromatic with a nice kick. You can serve this dish with some soy sauce on the side as an appetizer or.
